The Lime Box Cafe & Food Hub is an innovative community food-centred initiative of Community College Gippsland developed in partnership with Cardinia Shire Council and the Cardinia Community Food Hub.
The Lime Box Cafe is a purpose-built business dedicated to youth training and youth employment opportunities in Food and Catering, while serving the needs of our local community.
Cardinia Community Food Hub is a regional initiative made possible by the Cardinia Shire, the Cardinia Food Circles Project, led by Sustain: The Australian Food Network, with kickstart funding thanks to the Victorian Government, and in partnership with Hopeworks Community Solutions.
We promote healthy and ethical consumption of seasonal fruits and vegetables that are sourced from sustainable, small to medium-scale organic farmers in and around our local Cardinia Shire. We are growing a healthy, delicious, sustainable, and fair local food system, to create a vibrant and flourishing local food community.
Hopeworks is a social project delivering food, catering and logistics traineeships and employability skills to local young people around the campuses where Hopeworks operates.
In 2015 the Hopeworks Projrct opened it's first facility in Racecourse Road in Pakenham.
Since then, the Hopeworks team and youth trainees have delivered over 450 trainee graduates, donated more than 60,000 meals to local charities and rescued more than 18,000kgs of clothing to those in need.
